Invertebrates often seem very alien to us, as we humans have very little in common with this giant group of organisms.
Most land mammals like us have a relatively similar body shape and way of life, whereas invertebrates have certain strengths and weaknesses that are unique to their kind.
Instead of having a strong skeleton some invertebrates have evolved to have thick exoskeletons to protect their organs, and other have barley any hard parts across their entire bodies which allows them to thrive in the oceans depths.
In today's video we'll be travelling around the world taking a look at some of the strangest creatures that this world has to offer, as we'll be ranking the largest invertebrates in the world.

What if you were just taking a walk on the beach and discovered a massive, never-before-seen creature? That's exactly what happened in Tasmania, revealing how much we still don't know about our own planet's oceans. In 2007, retired biology teacher Dr. Lisa-ann Gershwin was beachcombing after a storm when she found an enormous, gelatinous blob washed ashore. It was unlike anything she had ever seen, far exceeding the size of any recorded jellyfish. Her careful observation and reporting led to a groundbreaking scientific discovery. This video explores the incredible moment of finding this new species, now known as the Tasmanian Lion's Mane Jellyfish. We'll dive into what makes this creature so unique, how it remained hidden for so long, and the scientific impact of its discovery. This astonishing find proves that even in the 21st century, vast, unknown life forms exist in our oceans, and ordinary people can contribute significantly to scientific knowledge. It's a powerful reminder of Earth's unexplored mysteries and the importance of citizen science. If you're amazed by deep-sea wonders, new species, and unbelievable discoveries that expand our understanding of life, then this story is for you.

The Giant Jellyfish and the Explorers from the Fifth Dimension
This sand sculpture was created by Leonardo Ugolini at the Sand Sculpture Park in Blokhus, Denmark.
Standing approximately 4 meters tall and sculpted from fine Danish quarry sand, the artwork took around 12 days to complete.
The sculpture tells the story of mysterious explorers arriving from the Fifth Dimension. At the very top, a small rocket lands on the head of a giant jellyfish. An explorer and his loyal dog begin their journey into the unknown.
As the story unfolds, other explorers descend through the jellyfish’s flowing tentacles. What begins as an expedition soon becomes something deeper: a reminder that nature cannot be completely controlled, isolated, or contained. The final explorer discovers that true exploration always changes the explorer as well.
This sculpture was created for the Sand Sculpture Park in Blokhus, Denmark, an outdoor exhibition featuring large-scale sand sculptures created by artists from around the world.
If you enjoyed this video, please like, subscribe, and follow the journey from the first block of sand to the finished sculpture.

Jellyfish often get bad press for their stinging sensibilities. But they’re actually remarkable creatures which not only benefit our seas, but the wider environment, too.
From helping to transfer carbon, to providing food and shelter for other fish and controlling fish populations – there’s so much more to jellyfish than their sting.
