He Said, The Hudson — The AMP Sessions: Class of '26 (Track 72)
⸻
◇ ABOUT THIS TRACK
Day one of the program, before any of us knew each other, they handed us the Miracle on the Hudson and asked one question: success, or failure?
This is that morning — Flight 1549, the first case the cohort ever studied together — heard the way we actually heard it: through garbled air-traffic-control radio, a drifting call sign, too many voices on the mic. And then taken apart by the people who'd spend the next year learning to see the machine underneath the miracle.
⸻
◇ THE WALKTHROUGH
It opens quiet — a memory of the event coming home through family, watched on the news years before any of us sat in that room.
Then the tower breaks open: chopped, half-garbled comms, the wrong call sign, the noise of a system under stress. The clean line cuts through it all — he said, the Hudson.
The beat drops to near silence for the cockpit: fly the plane, that's always number one. Four minutes to make the call. The whole thing strips down to one low drone before it slams back.
The bridge is the turn — why we build runways where the tailwinds run, and what else loves a favorable wind. The migrating birds. All of life is a trade-off.
And it comes home where it started: she saw a miracle, I saw the machine hold. Both are true.
⸻
◇ THE CRAFT
A hard left turn for the catalog — vocal-forward big beat in the Dig Your Own Hole lane, a sneering rock vocal riding on top of the machine instead of dissolving into it. The strip-down-and-relaunch is the song's spine: the engines die, the beat dies with them, and everything slams back on the clean line.
Built entirely from the day-one boot-camp transcripts — the garbled radio, the success-or-failure debrief, the tailwinds-and-birds exchange. The miracle heard through bad radio, then reinterpreted as a system performing under stress.
⸻
◇ ABOUT THE ALBUM
The AMP Sessions: Class of '26 is an ongoing catalog documenting a cohort's year through the University of Virginia's Accelerated Master's Program in Systems Engineering — one song at a time, start to finish.

Day 2 of Raiders mandatory minicamp just gave us the clearest picture yet of where this team stands — and it's a mixed bag. Fernando Mendoza and Aiden O'Connell finally got their first reps against the starting defense, and both quarterbacks struggled. Mendoza's accuracy was off, and he would have been sacked twice by Malcolm Koonce and J.J. Pegues. Meanwhile, O'Connell threw an interception to rookie safety Dalton Johnson on a deep ball. Is this a red flag heading into training camp, or just normal growing pains against a new defensive scheme with zero tape on it?
On the flip side, the Raiders defense looked legit. Malcolm Koonce is making noise, Hezekiah Masses is earning first team reps, and Rob Leonard's versatile scheme has Quay Walker, Jeremy Chinn, and Taron Johnson all lining up in multiple positions. We also break down what the Jalen Nailor and Brock Bowers slot footage could mean for the Raiders offense this year.
Full breakdown, analysis, and what it all means heading into training camp. Drop your thoughts in the comments — are you worried about the QB room or is it too early to panic?

Check out the official 2025 junior season highlights for Dextavion Reese, the explosive safety from Hephzibah High School (Hephzibah, GA) who just announced his hard commitment to Greg Schiano and the Rutgers Scarlet Knights!
Standing at a towering 6'4" and weighing a lean, rangy 185 pounds, Reese is a true defensive weapon who possesses the rare frame and verified track speed that college defensive coordinators covet in the secondary. He chose the Scarlet Knights over prominent regional and national competition, including official interest from programs like Nebraska and Georgia Tech.
In this highlight tape, see why the Rutgers coaching staff prioritized this dynamic Peach State defender and how his physical traits make him a perfect fit for Schiano's hard-nosed Big Ten defense.
---
### 📊 2025 Junior Season Statistics
Reese put together a dominant junior campaign, making massive impacts on both defense and offense while showcasing his elite ball skills:
* Total Tackles: 48 tackles
* Interceptions: 4 INTs (including a massive 200 return yards)
* Pass Deflections: 5 PD
* Receptions: 10 catches
* Receiving Yards: 215 yards
* Receiving Touchdowns: 2 TDs (averaging a massive 21.5 yards per catch)
* Track & Field Context: Holds an elite 10.83-second 100m dash and a 20'10" long jump, showing high-end recovery speed on the gridiron.
---

* 247Sports Composite Rating: 3-Star Prospect
* National Position Rank (Safety): No. 87
* State Rank (Georgia): No. 104
* Commitment Date: June 6, 2026 (Committed following a standout official visit to Piscataway)

### 🏈 Scouting Report & Film Analysis
**Rare Length and Secondary Frame:**
At 6-foot-4, Reese immediately stands out in the defensive backfield. He uses his long arms and broad wingspan to crowd passing windows, disrupt jump balls, and easily neutralize larger wide receivers or athletic tight ends in coverage.
**Elite Ball Skills and Track-Verified Speed:**
A two-way player who also excels at wide receiver, Reese flashes natural hands and elite tracking ability. His 4 interceptions in 2025 highlight his high-level football IQ and anticipation. Once the ball is in the air, his 10.83 track speed allows him to close gaps instantly, making him a dangerous centerfield safety who can erase mistakes in the secondary.
**Physicality and Positional Versatility:**
Reese does not shy away from contact. He flies downhill in run support, uses his length to shed perimeter blocks, and wraps up effectively in space. Because of his unique 6'4" frame, he offers Greg Schiano incredible scheme versatility—projecting as a free safety who can roam deep, a big nickel defender, or someone who can bulk up into an elite hybrid defender.
**Projection at Rutgers:**
Rutgers has a phenomenal track record of developing long, athletic defensive backs into NFL-caliber talent, and Reese fits that exact mold. While he will need to add functional strength to his frame to withstand the run games of the Big Ten, his combination of size, 10.8-speed, and ball-hawking instincts give him an incredibly high ceiling in Piscataway.
