Deep-sea researchers documenting waters off the coast of Argentina captured rare footage of a giant phantom jellyfish that they say can grow "as long as a school bus," with arms stretching up to 33 feet. The family consists of Antaeus and Fontaine and their parents Will and Kaiko and they seek to unravel the mystery of the oceans depths. The family seek Lemuria, a lost city that they are trying to reclaim. With help from Nereus, their guardian, they seek to pursue the riddle that will take them to Lemuria. 🙋‍♂️ Antaeus 'Ant' Nekton is Nekton's youngest child and the son of Will and Kaiko Nekton. He has a pet fish named Jeffrey. He is adventurous, a believer in all things mythical and paranormal, and is always eager to explore the mysteries of the deep. As the youngest of the Lemurian royal family, he is the "Chosen One" according to Nereus and is able to use various Lemurian devices. 🙋‍♀️ Fontaine Nekton is Ant's older sister. She enjoys winding Ant up in various ways but always looks out for him. Smiling Finn has a crush on her. 👫 Kaiko Nekton is Antaeus and Fontaine's mother. She is shown to have great mechanical engineering skills and often pilots the Aronnax. 👫William 'Will' Nekton is Ant and Fontaine's father. Once an Olympic swimmer, Will is now a passionate oceanographer. Like generations of Nektons before him, Will has devoted his life to uncovering the secrets of the sea. 🐠 Jeffrey is Ant's pet Yellowback Basslet fish and best friend. He was rescued by Ant, who started to follow him. He seems to possess an unusual degree of intelligence and sometimes gets involved in adventures of his own while the Nektons are absent.

Scientists spotted a rare phantom jellyfish (Stygiomedusa gigantea) during a comprehensive expedition in deep-sea ecosystems offshore the entire length of Argentina, the Schmidt Ocean Institute said on Tuesday (February 3). The images of the creature with ribbon-like arms, which ROV pilots filmed at 250 meters, stunned scientists from the Argentinian-led science expedition aboard Schmidt Ocean Institute’s R/V Falkor (too). The footage captures juvenile fish (Centrolophus sp.) swimming around the bell of the giant phantom jelly. Their bell can grow up to 1 m (3.3 ft) in diameter, and their four arms can reach up to 10 m (33 ft) long. The team also documented the largest known Bathelia candida coral reef in the global ocean, several other rich reef complexes, and 28 suspected new species, including worms, corals, sea urchins, sea snails, and sea anemones, the press release said.
