A giant jellyfish has been spotted off the coast of Cornwall by biologist Lizzie Daly. Spotting the marine creature while diving near Falmouth, she said it was as big as her body.
Barrel jellyfish, also known as "dustbin-lid jellyfish" thanks to their size, are the largest species of jellyfish found in UK waters, but it is rare to see them.

When it comes to the scariest cryptids, a few might pop into your head. Maybe you’ve heard of aggressive Sasquatches attacking people, like in the famous Ape Canyon story, or perhaps you know about divers and swimmers being attacked by the Lusca, a giant octopus said to live in the Bahamas. But for me, the scariest cryptid of all is the giant jellyfish.

Students in Brisbane in the Bachelor of Digital Media (Interaction Design) built, coded and developed a gigantic interactive jellyfish, with over 3000 led lights that were controllable via a public website for a week.
giant jellyfish in the world
The Giant Jellyfish also known Nomura's Jellyfish was sighted only a couple of times in the past couple of years but has struck people with awe for decades.
The lion's mane jellyfish (Cyanea capillata), also known as the giant jellyfish or the hair jelly, is the largest known species of jellyfish. Its range is confined to cold, boreal waters of the Arctic, northern Atlantic, and northern Pacific Oceans. It is common in the English channel, Irish Sea, North Sea and in western Scandinavian waters south to Kattegat and Øresund. It may also drift in to the south-western part of the Baltic Sea (where it cannot breed due to the low salinity). Similar jellyfish, which may be the same species, are known to inhabit seas near Australia and New Zealand. The largest recorded specimen found, washed up on the shore of Massachusetts Bay in 1870, had a bell with a diameter of 2.3 metres (7 ft 6 in) and tentacles 37.0 m (121.4 ft) long.Lion's mane jellyfish have been observed below 42°N latitude for some time in the larger bays of the east coast of the United States.
The lion's mane jellyfish uses its stinging tentacles to capture, pull in and eat prey such as fish, sea creatures and smaller jellyfish.

Giant jellyfish have invaded the northern coasts of the Japanese islands and they're causing problems. Frustrated local fishermen are hauling in little else. So one company, RIKEN, is trying to make marketable products from these gelatinous monsters. They're exploring everything from artificial gastric fluids made from jellyfish mucin to a jellyfish-based ice cream topping. If they succeed, they'll turn a costly problem into gooey gold. An original GOOD video.
