Nick Saban just sat down in front of the United States Senate to testify in support of the Protect College Sports Act — a bill that would limit athlete transfers to once without penalty, cap eligibility at five years, and block former professional players from returning to college. All of that from a man who made $150 million coaching college football, built a dynasty on a system that held kids captive with eligibility penalties, and never once raised an eyebrow when Alabama spent $300 million on a football operations center. Jason and Lance break down the full picture: who is actually getting hurt by the current system, why Saban's credibility on this issue is zero, and why the new college football landscape — expanded playoffs, Indiana winning a national title, players staying longer — is better for everyone except the good old boy network. Then the conversation shifts to Brendan Sorsby and the Texas Tech gambling saga. The NCAA ruled Sorsby ineligible after he wagered roughly $90,000 on college and professional sports over four years, including 40 bets on Indiana football as a freshman in 2022. Texas Tech appealed. The NCAA denied it. A Texas judge stepped in with a preliminary injunction, ruling Sorsby would face imminent and irreparable harm if he could not play. The NCAA's appeal won't hit the docket until February 2027 — well after the season ends. So Texas Tech has their quarterback. But Nephew isn't sold.
