DeepseaOddities
Description
Deepsea Oddities is a safe place where people can come to learn about the mysterious, intriguing, and often totally bizarre forms of life found in the world's oceans. Exploration and discovery of the sea is something that should be universally humanistic, something that binds us all together and makes us wish to discover more. What you see here will likely surprise, startle, and bewilder you, as well as make you ask the fundamental question: what else lurks within the abyss?

After reaching out to NOAA this week about any updates on the mysterious "Golden Egg" specimen found in the Gulf of Alaska last year, they responded with the following info: no updates yet as the specimen is still undergoing DNA testing-- however, they will post an update once the DNA testing is complete.
For now, this specimen remains unexplained.

DeepseaOddities
In honor of spooky season, here's a resurrected underwater horror story from the old days of this channel-- a tale of the sentimental and strange. Appreciators of DSO's soundtrack might recognize two tracks that actually made their first ever appearances in this video: "A Kid Again" and "Purgatory", both by Jim Gifford, who also narrates. Both of these tracks were actually composed specifically for this narration and were later repurposed for DSO...how things come full circle! π
Would you like to see more such underwater stories narrated on this channel? Tell us below... π¦

the camerawork -- the nightvision and the jerky too-fast movements of the camera -- are horror movie perfection. The reveal of how long those lines are, and then it keeps revealing, and keeps revealing, and oh god the camera's moving FAST, that must mean that these are even LONGER, launches this thing into monster history. I refuse to call them tentacles, how the hell would they move to feed the thing if something got caught at the edge of its reach? Would I even want to know? the answer tends to flip depending on my mood.

1:22 that one photo of the squid is somehow more scarier than a full horror movie

The most outstanding characteristic about this squid is how its appendages curve downward at a 90 angle.

That squid probably went back home and said to his family βYouβll never guess what I saw...β just for his squid family to call him a conspiracy theorist.

These are incredibly rare. There have been less than 20 sightings of them.

It genuinely looks like something edited for a creepy pasta. Insane how little we know even about our own planet.
