Description
No, there is no imposter of me here on YouTube (Well, unless you see a video upload after June 18, 2018 on the old channel). My old channel, Windows Electronic101, is going to see inactivity indefinitely, due to a lock by Google on 2 factor authentication by a really old phone number from 2014 that I don't even remember. Additionally, 2 factor authentication by email failed, so I had to create this channel and basically take a fresh start. Don't worry, all content (except for the old Discord server video) has been reuploaded to this channel. If you are a subscriber from the other channel looking for new content, please unsubscribe from that channel and subscribe to this one instead. There is also a new Discord server that replaced the old one showcased on the other channel. Hope you enjoy the content, and am always open to suggestions and/or video ideas.

Windows Electronic101 [Active Channel] I know I'm late, I unfortunately got struck with a really bad headache that put me off from doing anything yesterday. Anyway, the polling is closed, with Acapela winning at 79%. With the patch tuesday update fixing the Windows Magnifier issues, I am now back to using stable NVDA, and you can expect the series to be coming your way at some point. As stated before, this channel doesn't have a schedule, and for that reason, no specific date will be provided. Stay tuned. (1 month ago)

Windows Electronic101 [Active Channel] PSA: If you use Microsoft Edge as your default browser, beware that Edge is confirmed to store every password while Edge is in memory as plane text. More of a reason to use a different browser. https://www.heise.de/en/news/Microsof... (1 month ago)

Windows Electronic101 [Active Channel] The polling is now closed, and shows that text-to-speech won by 79%, whereas humans were voted in at 21%. It may be possible that we may still do the human playthroughs as a second video after the TTS video, mainly because of popularity reasons and having all bases covers. However, there is currently a new problem that prevents such a video from being created anytime soon. Most of the audio games we had in mind would absolutely require NVDA, as there is no visual interface. However, thanks to Microsoft breaking the native Windows Magnifier with an update which updates the build number of Windows to 10.0.26200.8246, it now constantly crashes on startup for nonsecure screens. It will open, except movement for about a second, and then crash without an error, as if something broke with DWM. Normal troubleshooting methods, such as resetting the display driver, changing the display driver Magnifier uses, and turning off smooth edges did not fix the problem. Meaning, I have submitted feedback to the Windows Feedback Hub for this to be fixed and should hopefully be fixed in the May Patch Tuesday Update cycle. However, as a consequence of this, I am now primarily using an Alpha copy of NVDA version 2026.2, which introduces a built-in Magnifier. ZoomText and Fusion do not run gracefully on this computer at all, and it's not just me, as a friend's computer had double the specifications of mine (64GB DDR5, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090, 14th Gen Intel core i9) whereas I have 32GB DDR5, 13th Gen Intel Core i9, and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 Mobile. On the 64GB machine, both Fusion and ZoomText almost instantly consumed system resources, which is insane to think about for a high end computer. My computer does the same thing, which is why I have resorted to NVDA Alpha 2026.2, as there is no addon for NVDA 2026.1 RC or not even the more stable NVDA 2025.4 to fix this. As such, i'm left with another problem, and that problem being obvious: Do not run Alpha builds of NVDA on your main setup. Because for one thing, this copy of NVDA Alpha occasionally loses control over the caps lock key (especially when working in Virtual Machines) fixable only by an NVDA restart, speech is not able to be interrupted, paused, or otherwise stopped without opening the Windows start menu, both the magnifier component and the speech component can separately freeze while the opposite is completely fine, OCR does not work, the error sound plays randomly and seemingly for no discernable reason, and occasional crashes with the application as a whole. Beyond this problem, and some of this may or may not be directly rewriting NVDA to be 64-Bit compliant despite there being a 32-Bit compatibility shim for 32-Bit addons and modules, this poses a new problem, new speech synthesizers would likely break the already disfunctional speech aspect of NVDA even further. To be clear, most of the audio games only usually either show a black screen or a picture with unrelated information, the interface must be navigated solely between the speech and keyboard. As the main text-to-speech voice playing these games was going to be the voice I use for NVDA, this poses a problem, especially when implementing the occasional side character(s) throughout the series. Which is why this video will be postponed until after Patch Tuesday, where I can hopefully go back to using my stable copy of NVDA as a daily driver in collaboration with the native Windows Magnifier tool, and so I can use a 3rd party speech Synthesizer that is not included in the mainline series (since having the same voice for both the interface navigation and playing the game would be emencely difficult to determine not only who is speaking, but also what is happening, and more importantly, what is part of the interface and what is not). However, as some of you may know, the list of text-to-speech voices in this universe is quite extensive and covers almost every possible engine, with the exception of a few. So, we're having another poll. Out of the 2 available 3rd party speech synthesizer addons for NVDA, which voice should be used as the interface navigation voice? As the video won't be up until sometime after Patch Tuesday, this poll expires on Tuesday, May 12, 2026 at 11:59 PM Eastern Daylight Time (as Patch Tuesday occurs on every second Tuesday of each month).
