Hi! I'm Kitty Monk and I'm here to talk to you about shows, cartoons and movies! While I like the vast majority of these episodes or products, I do think there is no such thing as perfect.
I might not have the best sounding voice, and I'm working on getting a better microphone, but I love discussions, and I can't wait to hear back from all of you. A little help goes a long way!
New in-depth content is uploaded on Friday at 2:30PM, and occasional reviews are posted on Tuesdays! If you have an idea for a review, DM me and I'll check it out!

My favorite part is when the boys allow Jimmy to stutter as long as he needs. And they never mention it or be dicks about it.

the fact that jimmy did comedy and didn’t get ridiculed for his stutter always made me feel like maybe i have a chance too :)

I have cerebral palsy. I love how Timmy and Jimmy are portrayed. They're just like all the other characters on South Park.

You forgot the best disability representation, being from New Jersey

i love how the disabled kids are just regular side characters in the show and have just as much fun and banter as everyone else. they're not the only ones getting shit on, EVERYONE gets shit on, no matter who they are. that's the beauty of south park.

That moment where shows like South Park are more wholesome and accepting than the people of America in real life.

I’m autistic and I’ve honestly never realised how good South Park’s disability representation is until now.

Growing up with a disability no matter how minor it is can be brutal as a kid due to other people's ignorance I like how South Park represents disability its a bit more realistic than other shows

I think it’s kinda funny how what’s considered one of the most offensive shows has some of the best representation

To me, Nathan's also worth an honorable mention. Although he's a minor reoccurring character who mostly only shows up in episodes focusing on Jimmy, Nathan averts a lot of the stereotypes associated with people with Down Syndrome. Not only is shown to be malicious and conniving, but he is also fully aware of how Down Syndrome kids are stereotyped and condescended on by adults, and plays up that facade around them to his advantage.

As a disabled person and a newer fan out South Park I was hesitant to watch it because I always heard that they “make fun of anyone and everyone” and I knew they had disabled characters

Yep. As an autistic person, I like how disability is portrayed in this show. I had been bullied in elementary school and middle school for my autistic traits. So this was nice

I really like how they are just normal kids. They aren't pitied or shown as gifted savants, just regular kids who do stupid shit like everyone else.

As an autistic person myself, I wish more shows would take Trey and Matt’s approach to people with disabilities. They’re all just people in this show with strengths and weaknesses and their disabilities are never used as an excuse for mentality or seen as a hindrance to them doing things. The montage of the disabled kids kicking Cartman’s ass in the Special Olympics episode was really powerful because it showcased them with the utmost respect, while calling Jimmy out for cheating.

The crux of it is the fact these disabled characters are people, not just a display of disabilities. They are not made for the concious or sensibilities of the general public.

I've taken multiple diversity classes in college and all of them only like to focus on women, black, and LGBTQ. Though they never put any attention to the mentally handicapped, the people who really don't have any diversity in media. It's ironic that a show dedicated to making fun of our differences is the most diversified in the subject.

about the adhd thing, so many kids are misdiagnosed with adhd when they’re actually exhibiting signs of emotional abuse. so it being minimized and pushed around in the episode was actually kinda accurate. especially that the meds never helped me, they made me depressed.

I only know about the existence of Tourette's Syndrome through that episode.

people underestimate south park quite a lot. its not just cartman being the butt of the joke for being racist and antisemitic, theres a lot of depth, especially in the early seasons
