Fun Fact: Mario Odyssey was hinted at earlier than you thought. In Super Mario Maker if you were to use the 30th anniversary Amiibo, every enemy sprite would change to have a Mario hat and mustache. The Bowser sprite had peach on top of him along with the hat and mustache like you see in Odyssey. It's either a coincidence or they were hinting at the next 3D Mario before the switch was even announced.
