This whole incident is so disturbing! That guy should be going to prison!
lmb1962 (2 years ago)
I think it's fair to say that those of us who have watched hockey all of our lives have never seen this move. He did it on purpose; through his negligence, he took someone's life away.

JR is 100% right. At least someone has the balls to be honest and say the truth that the media doesn’t want to hear out loud. Enough of the PC nonsense. A player was literally murdered on the ice and people are giving sympathy to the perpetrator like he’s the victim. It’s nauseating.
patriciavernon9795 (2 years ago)
Jeremy, I completely agree with you! It was an intentional karate type kick upward. He may not have intended to hit his neck but the kick was going to land on his upper body somewhere. I’m a die hard hockey fan and I am disgusted that the NHL is blowing this off as a horrific accident. This was no accident! He is a repeat offender of dirty moves and I am so glad to hear you speak out about it.
sashasavisha146 (2 years ago)
JR nailed it. There’s no hockey move that’s a deliberate kick to the face.
Whatsyourpurpose-316 (2 years ago)
I grew up on the ice. I have never seen a hockey player thrown off guard like this. It is definitely deliberate to hit him somewhere. The skates are a weapon!

Thank you!!! People need to start calling shit exactly as it is.
Joeventurenv (2 years ago)
It was intentional assault. Banned from hockey for life and charge with manslaughter.
doombeagle4262 (2 years ago)
Jeremy pretty much summed it up.
douglaspinsak1246 (2 years ago (edited))
He is guilty of at least manslaughter, if not murder in the 2nd degree. I feel like hockey players are probably more aware of their feet than other athlete, because of being on a blade and being in constant motion. He didn’t just lift his leg up; he lifted his leg up and then kicked him WHILE LOOKING AT HIM. Petgrave is definitely guilty of something significant.
brehojojordan7259 (2 years ago)
JR is 100% right.
SolomonSellsFlorida (2 years ago)
JR is THE MAN! No one is talking about how this KNOWN SCUMBAG skates across the ice to kick him in the head. The media and anyone saying this was a freak accident is absolutely deplorable!
forever1987GnX (2 years ago (edited))
It is obvious to anyone with more 500 braincells going in the same direction and clearly evident that he was intent on forcefully kicking upwards. Violent action of force in any game especially hockey where players are wearing sharp blades on their feet being cognizant of that fact in my opinion he used force with his leg as to assault the victim that resulted in the victims death. This was murder and the weapon was his skates used with violent intent to do physical bodily harm.
thewilster1000 (2 years ago)
Dead on Jeremy... That was intentional..
luisgordillo1695 (2 years ago)
He lifted his leg under power! then extended it in chopping motion ! when you loose your balance in hockey the upper torso would tend to bend forward! this didn't happen he stay up right and kept his balance because his brain and body were in control of his actions ! Maybe he didn't mean to kill him but he did it on purpose because he realized that he over played him and left the whole lower right wing open ! that's how quick the game is! he couldn't beat him on the ice so that piece of shit dirty moved him and killed him.
stevenutepass7671 (2 years ago)
Thanks JR, I still have your sweater Blackhawks, season tickets folks, watched you skate countless games.
Garlander (2 years ago)
I trust a 9X all stars opinion over the few reddit trolls defending Petgrave. It was an high skate / kick dirty play gone wrong. No he didn't mean to slice his neck, but it was a dirty play and he was beat on the angle. So he weaved around the defender and made the worst decision of his life and should be charged with also type of manslaughter.
MikeHarvey-ol7xr (2 years ago)
It was deliberate. Period.
SandraForde-o5f (2 years ago)
DAMN STRAIGHT JR IS RIGHT!!!! This was an intentional kickboxing move with a BLADE!!!!
johnschmid6578 (2 years ago)
As a former diehard Stl Blues fan,(they won the Cup finally in '19 so I'm good, lol), and the rivalry with Chicago the Blues had with Roenick in their lineup, I always had a huge respect for him, he speaks truth about the fundamentals of hockey. Completely unnecessary approach to take out an opposing player. May justice be served!
