When putting powder in the flashpan keep it away from the touch hole and that will speed up your lock time a lot. You want fire to go down the touch hole not power. If you get powder in there it burns like a fuse.

Really cool pistol, love to have one. I would think it would have very reasonable accuracy, shooting patched round ball. Good black English flints and 4F would speed up lock time. Thanks for showing us one of these things, a really beautiful firearm !

I'm guessing you're using a black powder substitute of some kind. If you switch to real black powder, the ignition will be much better. Substitutes are too hard to ignite.
