The common face hugger also has cephlapod-like suckers on its underside which further seal it to its host; which results in the tearing of the victims facial skin upon attempted removal. Referenced when Dallas says, "Wait, thats tearing his scalp!" More details on this adaptation can be found in the novelization of the film "Alien" by Alan Dean Foster. Check it out if i havent already, its available as an audiobook. On a side note, the novelization for "Alien Covenant"(also by Alan Dean Foster) makes waaaay more sense of that film. That too is available as an audiobook-

I must say H.R. Giger was an art genius. The bio-mechanical aspect, arthropod exoskeleton with a tough endoskeleton really scrambled people's mind back in '79.
