It's surprising how much this sounds like an unmuffled v8. Very smooth for a radial. I'm impressed, and have great respect for not only the engineers who designed them but for those great men who maintain them today.

I don't think I can ever recall hearing a radial idle as smooth as this one, the mechanics who got her to sound like that surely worked some magic.

i grew up with my dad turning these engines into aircraft engines.... been a long time sense i have seen one.... takes me back...

That's one of the sweetest running radial engines I've ever heard so obviously the rebuild was done correctly and somebody paid close attention to detail on getting it in tune which is a huge step of importance to power developement and engine life.
