@ChiliPepper37 ya i took it out about a month ago i didnt really notice a difference but thats probably because i have a 500gph pump hooked up to the xp4.

@7511fsm its changed so much since then and the tank is still crystal clear so im not complaining

@buddhasknowbest those little black sponges get alot of debris and i have a 750 gph pump hooked up to this baby so no worries. trust me i know what im doing. and all of the chemical filtration is done by my hob filters

You do realize that the xp is a bottom up filtration system meaning it's pushed in through the top and sucked in through the bottom up to the outlet, so you'd really want all four sponges on the bottom to catch all the crap before it gets to your biological stuff and your fine filter banged up media. Just curious if you really understand how your xp works.

i live in a small ranch house in pennsylvania. i got a $260 filter for my 16th bday, i wouldn't consider that rich... other than that ive payed for all my other equipment with my job ;)

You are actually the one using cheap filters. I've seen the XP4s go for nearly $300 online, even more in the stores. It's rated for a 265 gallon aquarium. Which means he has more filtration on his 125 then you have on your 220. The marineland bio wheels are like upgraded Walmart filters. His filtration actually doubles the tanks needs but the more the better. Your filters are rated at 75 a piece. which means it can handle up to a 225 gallon aquarium. original poster actually wins this battle.
