The first television station in the state of Ohio, and the most awarded in Cleveland, News 5 Cleveland (WEWS) is an ABC affiliate owned by Scripps.
We take a different approach. Too often in TV news reporting, viewers don’t know what happened after the initial story, how the victims or communities coped in the days and weeks after, or what resolutions to issues were ever reached. Our "We Follow Through" promise means that News 5 not only shows up when news breaks but comes back again and again with in-depth reporting. News 5’s entire team of anchors, reporters, investigators, and photographers are part of this effort, and the style of storytelling extends to all platforms.

The Ohio House Republicans have announced their version of the state budget, dramatically slashing school funding after months of uncertainty.
After facing questions about school funding for months, House Speaker Matt Huffman (R-Lima) and Finance Chair Brian Stewart (R-Ashville) decided not to fully fund public schools in their proposed amendment to the H.B. 96 budget.
To be fully funded based on statistics from the Fair School Funding Plan from 2021, schools would need $666 million. The proposed budget only gives them about $226 million.

“Lock up your gun” is a serious message. You never know if a child accidentally stumbles upon it and accidentally kills their self, commits suicide, murders someone, etc. I feel the father as the look in his eyes tells the whole story
