I realized a little while back I haven't looked at Sega Master System through the years so started at it's U.S. release in 1986 and already have 1987 online, too. Working on 1988 soon.

Some of my most favorite arcade games came from Bally Midway, but only a small few came out for NES. I would have LOVED a Root Beer Tapper on NES.

The "MH" carts were made 88 to 90, there were 5 revisions with DIP chips, and 1 with COP (glob-top).

I had that as a kid! I was weirded out when I saw Mario as a stand-alone game.

My dad had this same double feature game when i was a kid. I see it at shops all the time. Great copy!

Well, ALL versions of this cartridge were only available as a pack-in. You couldn't buy it separately. It is strange that it doesn't have a seal, but maybe Nintendo didn't bother because the customer knew it was a genuine cart since the only way to get one was to buy one of the bundles. My initial thought when I saw that label was that maybe this was a top loader-era cartridge, but having a regular board with ROM chips on it kind of negates the idea that this cartridge was made on the cheap. It's probably just a version that came with the Action Set before they started using the glop tops to cut costs.

Folks, there is nothing mysterious here. Later versions used the cheaper-to-produce chip-on-board versions seen here.

I am in my 40s and still playing games. You are from the same breed. The 80s never die.

I know Mario/duck hunt has 2 label variants, yours and the one that has the seal of approval, I have both but have never opened them to compare boards

Maybe there was a difference in the one that came with the system compared to buying a new replacement.

My assumption would be the copy that has the actual EPROM was from when Nintendo first starting packing in SMB/Duck Hunt in with the NES Action Set back when the Zapper still had the Grey color scheme. They probably shipped the glob version with the original label variation during the transition to the Red color scheme Zapper Action Set. There was one last label variant that had the Nintendo Seal, and I believe that was packaged with the third and last release of the Action Set (the box had a red bar that said "Nintendo Entertainment System" at the top).

The one I still have is a glob top. Cool to see such a drastic variant of a board. Clean those contacts on both boards though seriously that glob top's pins were nasty looking.
