Connecticut here and I had a great vacation in the UP starting with crossing this bridge. We stayed in a hotel on the shore of Lake Huron. We went to Mackinac Island, Soo Locks, Tahquamenon Falls, White Fish Point to include the Shipwreck Museum and Lighthouse tour and to historical forts. The UP is fabulous! What fun I had!

I’m from Texas. When I first came to Michigan I was here to visit my then boyfriend. He took me to Mackinac Island for a couple of days. All the way across that magnificent bridge I kept saying, “oh wow”! He was laughing at me. I’ve grown to love Michigan. Crossing the Mackinac Bridge aka the “Oh Wow” bridge that first time will always be a special memory for me.

During winter whiteouts you go slow and just move back and forth touching the metal grate so you know where you are.
