I adore the subtle touch that in his second form, he no longer counts as a Beast, and weapons that do extra damage to Beasts don't affect him in the same way.

The first mandatory boss of the DLC mirrors the first mandatory boss of the base game. While Gascoigne goes from man to beast, Ludwig goes from beast to man.

I love how in the first part, when Ludwig is a mindless eldritch monster, the music is dark and sinister, reflecting his state of being. When Ludwig stands upright and fights as a swordsman instead of a beast, the music shifts to become triumphant and heroic, as if to say that even if Ludwig dies, he can at least die with a bit of humanity left.
