Historic moment! The Bombay High Court’s fifth bench in Kolhapur was inaugurated on August 17, 2025, by the Chief Justice of India, Hon’ble Dr. Justice Bhushan Ramakrishna Gavai. Led by Hon’ble Justice M.S. Karnik and Hon’ble Justice Sharmila U. Deshmukh, the new division bench will hear PILs, writ petitions, death penalty appeals, contempt cases, and more bringing justice closer to the people of Kolhapur, Sangli, Satara, Solapur, Ratnagiri, and Sindhudurg. This historic step impacts nearly 1.64 crore people across 55,000 km². The heritage venue, once used by the Supreme Court of India, now stands ready to serve the region with greater efficiency. Let us all applaud this leap forward in accessible justice!
